Children in the Bridal Party
Including some adorable flower girls and a dashing ring bearer in your wedding? Help ensure their walk down the aisle goes off without a hitch by providing them with some practice. Most children will be ecstatic to have a special job during your big day, but walking in front of a big, emotional crowd can make them nervous. Practice will help, and pairing them up to walk down the aisle together will ease their
nerves as well – and provide double the cuteness! If mom and dad aren’t in the wedding party, save them a seat near the front in case your smallest wedding participants need a little encouragement. Standing throughout the whole ceremony may be too much for the youngest children, so reserve them a special seat in the front row in case they need a break.
Activity Gift Box
One of the best ideas we have seen during our years in the bridal industry is providing children with toys or activities at the wedding! Most parents think to bring items that will keep their children quiet throughout the ceremony, but there is also the reception to consider. Make this day extra fun and exciting for your smallest guests with some games and puzzles to keep generic Valium them entertained. Put together a special goodie bag for each child, filled with coloring books, mini puzzles and fun little toys. Bridal Musings has some great ideas of what to include. Creating an “I Spy” wedding scavenger hunt is one of our favorites!
The first thing to consider when it comes to children and dinner is where you want them to sit. Depending on the age of the children, a kid’s table may be the perfect solution. Those under age five will probably do better sitting with their parents, but school age children will enjoy each other’s company throughout the long meal. Create a special centerpiece for their table, stocked with books of puzzles, games and
Instead of feeding them the same meal as the rest of the guests, we recommend serving a special kid-friendly version. Most caterers are more than happy to work with you to design a kid’s meal, and serving it at your kid’s table will be easy to do. Consider serving the little ones dinner while the adults start with their salad. It’s already been a long day for them and they’re sure to be hungry.
Now that dinner is over, the speeches are about to begin. While games and activities may carry the kids
through, another way to proceed without distractions is to offer a movie screening in a separate room. A Disney movie is sure to keep the little ones entertained, and will give the parents a break. Once the dance floor has opened up, your young guests will be ready to flock back to the party in style!
